  • Approximately 5% of adults in the U.S. are diagnosed with and treated for ADHD.

WHAT IS ADHD?

ADHD, or Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, is a common neurological condition that affects the parts of the brain that allow us to plan, focus on, and execute tasks. People with ADHD tend to struggle with impulse control, time management, and organization. There are three subtypes of ADHD, each with different symptoms: hyperactive, inattentive, and combined.

HOW CAN ADHD BE MANAGED?

The optimal treatment strategy for ADHD includes a combination of medication, nutrition, exercise, and behavioral therapy. However, each patient is different! Finding the treatments that work for you and managing them takes research, planning, organization, and persistence. Seeing your doctor frequently is the best way to ensure successful symptom management.

How can I prepare for my appointment?

Plan ahead and be sure to give your doctor all the information that you can. It’s important that you take the time to paint a full picture, telling the whole story. Keep a daily record of your mood and response to any medication, reporting any trends to your doctor. Click here for more patient information.
