Annual Wellness & Physical Exams

What makes annual wellness visits so important

  • They give your care team a chance to assess your overall health, making note of any significant changes.
  • They keep you up-to-date on all necessary vaccinations and immunizations.
  • Routine cancer screenings can increase your chances of detecting cancer in the earliest stages.
  • They allow you to update your medical records, giving you the opportunity to ask your PCP about any concerns.
  • You establish a stronger relationship with your PCP and care team.

WHAT IS A PHYSICAL EXAM?

An annual physical exam refers to the routine testing that your primary care provider (PCP) performs to monitor your overall health and identify any issues that may become medical concerns in the future. These exams can include testing for diseases, blood work, immunizations, and general health advice or questions.

WHY SCHEDULE AN ANNUAL PHYSICAL EXAM?

No matter your age or stage of life, annual physical exams are essential to your ongoing health. Visiting your PCP for routine health visits is one of the best ways to track and treat conditions before they worsen. Even if you don’t feel “sick”, a physical exam serves as an opportunity for you to touch base with your doctor, address any health issues, ask any questions, and outline plans for your future. Annual visits also allow you to forge a stronger relationship with your PCP.

How can I prepare for my appointment?

Plan ahead and be sure to give your doctor all the information that you can. It’s important that you take the time to paint a full picture, telling the whole story. Keep a daily record of your mood and response to any medication, reporting any trends to your doctor. Click here for more patient information.
