Amanda Lavigne, FNP-C Family Nurse Practitioner

Amanda Lavigne TP (12) edit

Amanda Lavigne, born in Metairie, and raised in the Covington/Abita Springs area, always knew she wanted to go into the medical field. Her interest started in a fascination with science and the functions of the human body. She found joy in caring for others, which translated first to a bachelor’s degree in nursing. Amanda served as a nurse for several years, including at AVALA before she felt called to continue her education. She earned her master’s degree in nursing from the University of South Alabama in 2020 and became a Family Nurse Practitioner to continue caring for families, both sick and well.

Caring for people is not just what I do — it’s who I am. My goal is to make each patient feel valued, understood, and confident in their healthcare journey.  I treat each patient as I would my own family. I believe great healthcare starts with a genuine provider-patient connection, and I am deeply committed to being a provider my patients can always count on.”

Amanda’s approach to treatment starts with listening to her patients. Her goal is that every patient feels heard, understood, and comfortable with a plan to achieve their healthcare goals. Amanda chose to bring her knowledge and talents to AVALA Care – after years of being a part of the AVALA family as a Registered Nurse at AVALA Hospital in Covington.

“My desire has been to provide care for patients as a nurse practitioner at Avala since working as an RN at Avala several years ago. I am grateful and excited to now have the opportunity to be a part of Avala’s growing medical community in a provider role. I truly value the culture and am ready to continue to grow with a medical community that values patient care the same way I do.”

Amanda sees patients at AVALA Care in Covington, Monday – Friday. She offers walk-in visits from 8am – 4pm.

When she’s not in clinic, Amanda enjoys spending time with her husband and children. She values her faith, which plays a major role in her life, both personally and professionally. She is an avid hiker, and enjoys traveling to national parks around the country, and relaxing at the spa. She loves her dogs and caring for her goats. She may or may not be a lifelong fan of mermaids – her husband calls her “Mermanda.”
